Good ol' days...A life behind bars

Good ol' days...A life behind bars

A Poem by BBP

The good ol' days.....
When souls were lighter
When the sun shined brighter

Van Morrison floating on the air waves
Creedence giving a voice to the red, white and brave

Bikers in denim vests
Doin' their worst and givin' their best

Sleeping under open skies
Filled with smoke and lit by stars

Highway wind showing the way,
to finding freedom behind bars

Chasing sunsets,
Chasing glory,
Now, only old photographs can tell the story..........

Of the good ol' days .....
That the OG's miss
and the young guns crave

Wish I still had my 1971 Yamaha XS650E - ahh - this poetic share certainly did bring back a few nostalgic memories - nice one my friend … :-)

The funny thing about those bikers in the vest, they are still the cool kids on the block.

Thanks cherrie! They are still the raddest old dudes around. 🤗
Been riding since 68. I know and remember the feeling of freedom under the stars. Getting punched right out of the blue and never knowing the reason, or caring for that matter. Life was good but eventually it had to pick a direction. Here I am today, father and grandfather... Memories are good :)

That's the best part about it!
a very nostalgic piece. Loved the imagery the sprung to mind with your brilliantly described stanza's. Great piece, and a great piece for the U.S.

Also, very true.
In my head, I heard Bruce Springsteen playin' loud and the picture playing was a mix of young guns and sons of anarchy...playing in slo mo and black and white, to show its the past.
Great flow to your words. Has left me reminiscing about all kinds of been and gone :)

I was born in 68. Talk about just missing the party :)
An awesome cruise down memory lane. Such a clever use of "a life behind bars." When I saw the title, I thought "this will be interesting"... and it was interesting and more. I especially love the music you referenced. Brings back so many memories. I can see why you have so many views on this piece. Nice work!

One of the best of yours I've read so far. You've picked out the perfect details, sending an old fart like me into a wave of nostalgia. I often think that the youth we lived can never be relived at any other time & the aspects you highlight are many of the reasons why. It wasn't all roses & rainbows, but it was roughshod & real in a passionate way (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
