Magic

Magic

A Poem by Rebecca K Pavia

Is it any wonder
That we find ourselves in dreams?
Wandering through a magic world
Where nothing’s as it seems.
When the world is crumbling all around
And there’s no solace in the day
When poverty, stress, death and disease
Seem to meet us every way.
In a land of fairies our souls will drift
While our vessels are bound to truth
And our minds will soar above the clouds
On the wings of a dragon flies our youth.
We walk with Hobbits and wizards old
With Unicorns and sprites
Watch fiery spirits rise from the ash
Stand side by side with Knights.

Our hearts are pure and our intentions true
As we dream of wish and spell
An enchanted world beyond this plain
Where real is the stories we tell.
But as we wake on each new dawn
Reality comes flooding through
Full of obligation, pain and flesh
Responsibility for all that we do.
It’s some cruel trick
To send us there, where consciousness is blind
To allow us to remember
All the mystery that we find.
To dance with imagination
Relive each moment we’re awake
I think it would be kinder to steal
All the journeys that we make.

Oh my, very lyrical flow to this piece, and such wisdom. The last verse nails it perfectly. Me like this piece manymegamuch :-)
