WEEPING WILLOWS

WEEPING WILLOWS

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

exercise mind and body

"

Such a fine day to lift my spirits

ti’s springtime and there is a faint scent

of perfume in the refreshing breeze

I am inside a stunning green park

with old wooden fences around it

where one can meander on different paths

I choose a path marked red on a tree trunk

with Weeping Willow trees bordering it

and try to move at an adequate speed

therefore, my baby and I secure plenty of physical exertion

the doctor reveals that this is healthy for both of us

Whilst I walk, my mind wanders to my future incessantly

a mix of hopefuls and apprehension

I trust all expectant mothers carry some unease

about motherhood and what to foresee

the disquiet, as you know, regards raising

a child alone

this does not contradict my competence

I prefer that my baby shall have a father who loves him as much as I do

perchance I shall be fortuitous to encounter a fine

gentleman who has no covert timeline

it would be lovely to meet someone who would fill those shoes

regrettably, my soldier still with amnesia at hospital

I offer a prayer each day this onset shall resolve

I have the notion they will not keep him  at greater length

thus, t is potentially ruinous for me

Enough  petulance for now!

At once I glance at my watch  and to my dismay

it is well past lunch time

in a lovely wooded setting ,attempting to be fit

it is no wonder I lost track of time

I must admit the walking works miracles in musing

about life

I am not terribly hungry at this moment

yet I must consider my baby’s needs

I am now back in the park area where I shall find a café

and hopefully dine on healthy food

Isn't it great to just wander and let your thoughts meander where they wish to go.
We done that very thing this fine if a bit brr morn. We used to walk these paths like a marching couple but Katie (bless her) slows her roll enough for me to keep up and ww chatted about all the other times we've walked this path and things we've seen, like the time the bit by the gate and tree stump was covered in tiny pink flowers, as if a very artistic vandal had dropped a pack of seeds (or else an overly eager bird had tried snd failed to make off with them! 😃
I always feel it is exercise for the mind and body and is very therapuiti... therupeu... very good for you!
Sorry for being so late to this one. I must check to see what orlthers I've missed. 😃

Brings me back to when the spouse and I would walk around this huge oval, well any suitable nearby green space as part of antenatal regimen. Besides that it’s something we do anyhow of our own accord. Your poem indicates a kind of ‘solitary’ activity. While that is also wonderful to do and have, I’m hoping you have someone to share the activity with occasionally. Perhaps when the child learns to walk, even! 🙏🏻👍🏻🕊

Nothing as a easy day. The comfort of a park and deep thoughts. I enjoyed the story into the words. A warm Spring day in the park. A place to make wishes. Thank you dear Betty for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome dear Betty.
Hi Betty, i seem to have missed some chapters along the way as i am not always here ( try not to get addicted to any sites on the web lol).
Well she is safely delivered then , but he is still ailing and as time goes on i would think no improvement is going to be long term damage .
She is very brave i think , but then all new mothers are very protective and so she has to be at this stage in her life ...

........🙂👍
Dear Betty, so much apprehension in this write. A pregnancy can do just that, especially if it comes as a surprise and the relationship with the father isn’t totally secure. What comes across here is the mother’s determination to look after her baby’s needs. Nothing like a nice walk to try and weigh things up in the mind. Great story telling. Hope all is good with you dear Betty.

Good morning dearest Betty,
I am hoping that you are fully recovered? I have not been on Writers Cafe for quite sometime...again and I do so miss reviewing and writing. Just seems that my days are way too busy. I just need to set aside time...ah well...
Anyway, being pregnant and being unsure...oh I remember those days well. Quite different than anything I have read of yours and I liked it. More like a short story ...could actually become a vignette...
