A POOL OF ROCKS

A POOL OF ROCKS

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

Life can be short

"

My darling

the day you slipped off that jagged cliff

and tumbled into a pool of rocks

I knew then you vanished forever

still, I cannot give credence to it

my mind and soul fail to accept

were you so laden with burdens

that life was no longer bearable?

I believe that are souls still exist as one

holding on tight to our many secrets

still, I fancy that our bond is unbreakable

perhaps your enigmas are hidden

deep inside the breath of your fractured spirit

not disclosed to me

I shall mourn you each  day

confused, yet compliant

and strive to embrace

you were my entire universe

shall I place a memorial to you, my love

on this very spot?

oh, it pains me to conceive of this catastrophe

I must behold you in my dreams

imagine our life as it could have been

I, the only one who knows the pointed cliff

and that, my darling, shall be

our last impenetrable secret

as much as this is filled with the aftermath of tragedy, it is brim filled with romance & meticulously rendered .. it could easily be made into a stage play, novel or movie .. but I love it as is .. warmly Neville

I love how you have created a story of heartbreak from a piece of artwork Betty. A tragedy with long lasting consequences and loss. Suicide leaves the deepest of wounds. You have a wonderful imagination. You are a great story teller.
