MOON LOVE

MOON LOVE

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

reach high

"
When i was a little girl
I would sit on our stoop
after we had our supper
and I would look for the moon
Sometimes it disappeared and I was sad
other times it was tiny
but I remember on a very clear night
the moon was big and round
and it looked very close to me
so close i held up my arms so high
I could almost touch it
could not take my eyes off of it
so real and so many spots on it
I was so excited, I ran inside the house
and told my mommy that I almost touched the moon
she told me that some day people might visit the moon
my eyes popped I was so amazed
I went back outside
but this time a cloud passed by
I waited and there it was once more
then reached and reached and I said to myself, maybe some day I can visit the moon too

I sense innocence in every line, and the kind and gentle words if a mother. That make it possible to follow your dreams. A lovely journey on ink and paper.

Tell me, who has ever gazed up into the night sky like that and not thought similarly and wished .. A delightful recollection not only now poemed but also truly shared & so warmly .. Neville

Very pretty. I have always been fascinated by the moon and the stars (especially shooting stars). ~Jim

as you got older and grew, could you touch it then?

Maybe you could play a round of golf on the moon!

Some of have touched the moon!!!
HOME! Finally… lots of
help needed🙏
I remember seeing the moon landing on TV, but I think it might have been a rerun, as I was less than a year old at the time and thankfully I didn't give a hoot for current affairs at the time.
If I did think anything, it would more than likely have been " ooh! That thing on the telly looks like a giant Farleys rusk! Gimme!"
😃
I do remember later on wondering if my new Christmas gift of an evel knieval stunt rider bike could jump over the moon. Thankfully it was only big enough for the Evel Knieval doll to sit on, which was lucky because I think he was made of bits left over from Steve Austin and they could rebuild him. I on the other hand was made of ouches, which I tested at every opportunity, much to the dismay of my mother! 😃

I can recall similar experiences as a child. The full moon on an autumn night was awe inspiring to a small boy. Never thought of visiting it, though. I wonder if Mr. Armstrong did.
