MOON LOVE

MOON LOVE

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

reach high

"
When i was a little girl
I would sit on our stoop
after we had our supper
and I would look for the moon
Sometimes it disappeared and I was sad
other times it was tiny
but I remember on a very clear night
the moon was big and round
and it looked very close to me
so close i held up my arms so high
I could almost touch it
could not take my eyes off of it
so real and so many spots on it
I was so excited, I ran inside the house
and told my mommy that I almost touched the moon
she told me that some day people might visit the moon
my eyes popped I was so amazed
I went back outside
but this time a cloud passed by
I waited and there it was once more
then reached and reached and I said to myself, maybe some day I can visit the moon too

Very cute poem. Just beautiful like the moon and inncocent as a little girl. Moon especially on a full moon night had me see it at nights too as a little one. Now in the top floors I am fortunate to have a wonderful view with large windows making it easy and very clear to see the skies and moon from our beds. I enjoy it very much, next time on a clear night will remember your sweet lines as I lie down watching the beautiful the large white moon my dear!

Thank you so much for your visit and lovely review!

Wasn't the moon everyone's best friend when they were little? This reminds me of when I was little and I would talk to the moon to stay awake. I don't know why, I believed that the moon and the sun were gods and I would tell them my problems and my day and eventually I would say, DIDN'T THE SUN ALREADY SEE MY DAY AND TELL YOU?

It's a concept about innocence and the fact that children's dreams are always possible. So I'm so glad you wrote this. It's definitely a universal experience. And who knows, maybe it really is everyone's friend...

Thanks for sharing. Amazing poem.

Hi betty,

It was a thing , the moon , for every motger to show moon and say to tge kid to eat food. Kids love watching moon and they forgot what mom is doing to their mouth

And one great kid, wanted moon so near to him then his mom showed in mirror, kid felt it was so close then he went to grab bag to keep the moon with him forever...
That was a story written by great sages. But certainly that kid found his lovely moon as his wife as he grew older...

But fate did played brutal game with them keeping them struggle and making them to live separately but with 2 kids twin brothers.

And both merged in tgeir later stages into eternity...

Thank you fir sharing your beautuful lines .

I would see you getting warmer
Hope your tongue getting tasted tge food which you like..

Jessy Jacob.

Delighful and utterly believable, dear you! The voice near whispered with fascination and want; she trembled with excitement, feeling the magic of what was/is high, high and higher in the sky!! How many of us feel the same, even as adults.
Betty, everything seems so true and sincere when you lay your thoughts and dreams. This is Special, Unique, Exceptional

Black Mountain, Betty!
Is there anything left of your beautiful town? It is favorite place of mine. My whole family used to rent a house for between Christmas and New Years At the YMCA Blue Ridge campground. We did that for years, and all my memories from there are lovely. And isn't there a poetry festival in the autumn. Joe Spear and Pamela Hurst did their Beatlick thing there.

There is something enchanting about the moon, not the least of which is everyone in the whole world gets to share the experience. As a child, it is this wonderful, mysterious ball of magic. Have you ever read D. H. Lawrence's poem AWARE? It was written when he was in Taos, New Mexico because he was dieing of Tuberculosis, and I think you would love it.

What a beautiful poem. When I was younger I did the same thing,
even now if I don't see my favorite stars I'd be sad, something about it, makes me comfortable.
The sky gives me hope and that is the only thing to calm me when over stressed.
Thanks for sharing such a lovely poem, about our beautiful moon.

Yes same here, you're welcome
what a beautiful memory. not only is this a narrative of childhood innocence, it is a story about our inner child alive long after we reach adulthood. this desire to 'go to the moon' and find adventure and fulfilment there is still burning in my chest. as i stand on my balcony and gaze up to the heavens i always think how amazing it would be if i could levitate and fly somewhere far away. thank you for sharing this and helping me rediscover my Moon Love.
