THE GREEN STEM

THE GREEN STEM

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

the life of a rose

"

I am a green stem

my head is an orange rose

all of us in this garden are my sisters

sun shrouds us

rain nourishes us

lifespan re-produces

in our nest beneath the earth

protects us in the frigid of winter

when we huddle to warm our denuded  heads

our hot breaths envelop

and we ready ourselves to sprout when the snow melts

life is glorious as we nestle

our love sustains us

dear Betty... flowers have feelings as they sleep and wake to move their Petals... and become a Gift to someone who is sad and needs to know that the Sun and rain will bring smiles... (wishing you a Thanksgiving of blessings with fruits and vegetables). gently, Pat

You have used your incredible mind to bring a garden's seasons into being far better than I was told at horti' college! Yours skill as an artist allows you to create beautifully colourful minatures one after another and anothe which in turn.. add that much more to any lesson!

'green stem' magic; we ready ourselves to sprout when the snow melts.. life is glorious as we nestle..
our love sustains us ' - says so much, perfection to taken to heart

Beautiful imagery here Betty. I progressed the journey in slow motion. Through winter to summer bloom, and what a beautiful splash of colour. A bouquet of scented love.

Never put the word orange in a poem. But you have and it is glorious.

And isn't a rose or even it's sibling sisterhood the epitome of love.... A metaphorical masterpiece dear poet Betty!!
