I empathise with your friend Betty. Ever since my late thirties I had been hoping to go grey in a kinda George Clooney way, but only the sides went grey and even now at 56, I am left wondering why the top of my head is relatively stress free and continues in its weirdly too dark darkness. It leaves my head looking like I sellotaped a bad wig on and although it is getting less dark with only a hint of pepper, it means I am only comfortable if I cover it with my beanie hat, which is super fun in summer.
It got so bad I started wishing I was bald, but then my hair started to thin and I wished I'd shut my trap.
I'm sure there's a lesson in there somewhere, but all I can think of is always carry a spare beanie and don't get bored during lockdown and shave your head, because wearing a beanie on a shaved head is torture and acts like velcro!
Remember, no shaving it off, even if you are bored!

Beanie cap or not!

I love how you celebrate self love in your poem, your poem also brought me back dear memories of a childhood friend with a shock of silver in his hair- thank you!

Aw, Betty!
The ravages of youth! I hope she's kept it over the years! And what a special trademark to own! I'm tinkinf if I were to write a prose short story or novel, I'd want that to be a cool trait for a female lead.
I'm closing my eyes to see a 12-year-old with butt-length silver hair.

Being Hungarian... it was remarkable that I spent my grade school years and high school years in Maryland with Nancy Medvee who also had Parents from Hungary. It was a Bond never broken. Remarkable coincidence. I was born in West Virginia because the Statue of Liberty brought my family Via the Statue of Liberty and sent them to West Virginia. It was lovely to have an Accounting of all the Immigrants... as early or earlier as 1940. Amen... hugs, Pat

As soon as we bring the Creativity to our Forefront... as a Nation... we will handle the undesirable Criminals and once again become the Shining Star that Cultured people create. softly, Pat
Yeah... lovely remainder...
If others can't be proud of us, certainly we can do ourselves instead 😅
I remember hp -silver trio... Luna...
In my class also there was a boy with full white hair, but he did colouring his hair black....
Acceptance of appearance (self and others) is important...

My love of poetry results from my love of art. As a painter I am able to express myself on a canvas. As a poet my words come from my heart, my moods, sometimes sad, mostly upbeat. I like to use vivid .. more..
