THE SUN'S WRATH

THE SUN'S WRATH

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

Unexpected Cosmos, meadow fulfillled

"

The clouds kept their promise

lovers observe as gray billowy shadows

become black and haunting

pretty soon rain droplets fall in straight lines

to welcome them into the cosmos

lay on their blanket, enveloped

nose to nose, laughing, smooching, hair drenched

salty tears, sharing their embrace

Thunder claps and z shaped lightning overwhelms

they huddle in wonder, cuddle concealed by their blanket

nothing to interfere with their privacy

The rain halts

they kick the blanket high in the soggy air

naked bodies are in awe of an astonishing rainbow

sea green, aqua blue, pink and light yellow

a sight  to recall

they linger, statuesque, stunned

until it disappears into thin air

Clouds lighten to wisps of shadows

when they disperse, the sun is agape

they pause, terrified that it will judge them once more

they cling to defend against its wrath

yet the extraordinary heat is too persuasive

thus, they transform into clover and dandelions

the meadow is fulfilled

dearest Betty... I miss Rainbows and look forward to having the Phenomenon soon ... as we continue to have many Rain Showers which we desperately need.
Your Poem is so delicately written like Mother Pearls with colors of the Rainbow.
A special poetic version that is embedded eloquently as a Tattoo... artfully so.
Softly, Pat
