THE SUN'S WRATHA Poem by Betty HermeleeUnexpected Cosmos, meadow fulfillledThe clouds kept their promise lovers observe as gray billowy shadows become black and haunting pretty soon rain droplets fall in straight lines to welcome them into the cosmos lay on their blanket, enveloped nose to nose, laughing, smooching, hair drenched salty tears, sharing their embrace
Thunder claps and z shaped lightning overwhelms they huddle in wonder, cuddle concealed by their blanket nothing to interfere with their privacy
The rain halts they kick the blanket high in the soggy air naked bodies are in awe of an astonishing rainbow sea green, aqua blue, pink and light yellow a sight to recall they linger, statuesque, stunned until it disappears into thin air
Clouds lighten to wisps of shadows when they disperse, the sun is agape they pause, terrified that it will judge them once more they cling to defend against its wrath yet the extraordinary heat is too persuasive thus, they transform into clover and dandelions the meadow is fulfilled
