THE SUN'S WRATH

THE SUN'S WRATH

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

Unexpected Cosmos, meadow fulfillled

"

The clouds kept their promise

lovers observe as gray billowy shadows

become black and haunting

pretty soon rain droplets fall in straight lines

to welcome them into the cosmos

lay on their blanket, enveloped

nose to nose, laughing, smooching, hair drenched

salty tears, sharing their embrace

Thunder claps and z shaped lightning overwhelms

they huddle in wonder, cuddle concealed by their blanket

nothing to interfere with their privacy

The rain halts

they kick the blanket high in the soggy air

naked bodies are in awe of an astonishing rainbow

sea green, aqua blue, pink and light yellow

a sight  to recall

they linger, statuesque, stunned

until it disappears into thin air

Clouds lighten to wisps of shadows

when they disperse, the sun is agape

they pause, terrified that it will judge them once more

they cling to defend against its wrath

yet the extraordinary heat is too persuasive

thus, they transform into clover and dandelions

the meadow is fulfilled

You're very welcome, Betty! :)
An amazing metaphoric write! I love the visual detail in this excellently expressed poem! The weather change is superbly captured and seeing the rainbow is for me like a spiritual vision. I love how they watched until it disappeared and shortly afterwards, their own transformation was recorded beautifully. I so enjoyed reading, Betty and I, thank you for sharing this truly eloquently inked write. I love it!

Most welcome always, Betty... 🌹🌹🌹
How I love the reality of your metaphors in this - they are ripe and visual and real - and ripe and - so beautifully yours, Betty!

'The rain halts
they kick the blanket high in the soggy air
naked bodies are in awe of an astonishing rainbow
sea green, aqua blue, pink and light yellow
a sight to recall
they linger, statuesque, stunned
until it disappears into thin air'

Not merely descriptive but emotional - absolute.

The beginning left me in shock
All that heavy rain and thunder storms
i could hear it rumbling around the hills and valleys
The echoes rolling; rolling endlessly

The sun came out to dry up the rain
Wet drops - cashed away by the heat
At last we may get our chairs out
To soak up the sun
Into our weary bodies
