HIDEOUT

HIDEOUT

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

fearing the cosmos, intimacy

"

HIDEOUT

Skin to skin

fever to fever

they lay upon an open meadow

eyelashes near a touch

whispers, giggles, and frolics

Corner of a lens

they catch the moon with a smirk

stars with a wink

bashful, they collect their belongings

and race toward the forest

where they hide in their intimacy

Alone, breathless from run

they flop and slump on leafy earth

into each other’s arms

albeit clumsily, yet sure to accomplish their intentions

At dawn they awaken in warm caress

from their dozy eyes they view a clementine sky

with hues of plum seep through the branches

like a rumba dance

they linger in the thick

in fear of the sun’s discontent

Lovers finding a hidden place to enjoy the embrace of each others touch and nearness. So many wonderful lines in this piece and I enjoyed the descriptions of the sunrise. Beautiful

This write is rich with images so rich that should not be read by any on a diet. I love the way that you have not given names to the characters but leave them anonymous. A very nice write of seduction and romance.

That is one heartwarming romantic imagery, the details of the scene are so nascent and fragrant, reflecting beautifully on them the two lovers materialise even more magically like a fairytale, so many colours I witness in your poems, forest greens, Clementine sky, reddish plums lush green under silver moon's glow, everything comes together like a dream in this poem and it makes it undeniable sweet. Really loved reading this poem from you my friend! Wishing you warmest of my love ❤️

Wow! What a beautifully crafted poem in this delightful write filled with passion, sensuality and the most phenomenal depiction. As I read the first verse Adam and Eve came into my mind, though I have no idea why, Betty.

What a picture you fleck for your reader in the stunning visual detail of these lines! Love the various figures of speech also and how you use them through excellent word choice. A classic write, dear Betty. Thank you so very much for sharing. I really love this poem...
