THE FUTURE Chapter 47

What future I ask myself?

my only destiny is me at this moment

I despise solitude, delight in company

when my soldier was an ocean away

I loathed my seclusion

longed for his companionship

the attachment, togetherness

affection, belonging

alas, in an instant, it is extinct

What choices do I have?

rent an apartment in London and continue

to see my doctor?

deliver my baby in London?

I may visit my soldier now and then

and know the he is still in my heart

none of these choices are satisfactory

I must muse on some other actions

At once, a clue comes to mind

I am embarrassed to broach the subject

it is so peculiar and I am sure it is not feasible

due to past circumstances and pregnancy

now my mind engages with a glimmer of hope

that I shall not be alone after all

I recall that while on the ship

the gentleman placed a note in my hand

shall I presume that he is still smitten with me?

my mind full of different scenarios nearly explodes

I still love my soldier

yet he is in another world

he shall never know me nor his child

Now I must take care of myself

look through a bundle of papers

In the hope that his note is there

at long last, I locate it

I see his name and address in London

my mood swings from the earth to the moon

What shall attract him to a pregnant woman

who ended an affair on the ship?

am I acting preposterous?

I am so lonely and with child

I dare say that I am starved for affection

yet I must ponder this carefully

So interesting to follow the thoughts of our protagonist as she strives to find her balance on the see-saw of life while focused on her soldier and her dreams. Well done, F.

Affairs of the heart always the most difficult problem to address and solve with satisfactory completion, unlike a maths puzzle there is no right or wrong solution, this dear lady torn between loyality to the father's baby or the security for both her the soon to be born baby with a recent clandistine relationship, just who or where will her conscious lead???

I see the story changing course as per the woman's emotions, her desperation and hope and need to fulfil this loneliness with a loving one's company, I can feel her dilemma of still loving her husband but seeing him now, the abandonment must be hitting her excruciatingly that she is resorting to think of the man who made a proposal to her, I am eagerly waiting for the coming parts of this touching story my friend, it seems like it will have many twists and turns and I have my own hopes too. This way beautifully done!

Sending you warm regards!

Any port in a storm time here. To say our heroine is thinking about a long shot now is the essence of understatement. Finding the gentleman's address is far from in the bag, but convincing him of her proposition requires that kind of faith that is the source of miracles. Still, what choice has she got? I can't wait to see what kind of sell she puts together.

Ooooohhhh! The plot thickens in this poignant episode, Betty. Decisions, decisions, decisions to be made and I pray the lovely lady don't get caught in the middle. Her desperation is tangible and yet, I feel as though she is about to go from the frying pan into the fire! Can't wait for the next episode, Betty and will miss the story when all of the episodes are over, but I am praying for a happy ending! An excellent build-up! Enjoyed reading so very much and thank you for sharing, dear Betty...
