I neither a firm believer of sceptic doubter of the magician deft of hand tricks, authentic or purely tom foolery hokus-pokus? But hey, whatever, just like the chidren I'm totally in awe of their slight of hand craftmanship that so entertains and delights audiences the world throughout..
Hey presto, a magically composed poem my friend, much enjoyed!!!
sometimes the most depressed people amuse and laugh with others whilst hiding behind a mask and children are so easily enthralled by magic they never see the truth of it all..

Love your comments! So true! Thank you Stella

The end is a touching twist of this poem, amid all the joys this magician shares with children he hides his misery and weeps out of sight, I wonder if how likes of him we often witness they go out of their way to give others happiness while they themselves need it the most or that they find their happiness in others joy, such is the trick of life. Very thoughtfully written dear poet friend, sending you warm regards!
Also I'm wondering why am I not getting notified for any new poems posted of those I subscribed. Ehhh...

I was happy to read this thoughtful poem my friend! You're most welcome ❤️
Penn and Teller comes to mind. How magic charms us with the illusions and the cleverness. We can all do with some magic throughout our lifespan, enriching our well being and sense of wonder Betty.

A poem deep rooted in a beautiful metaphor. I related to your words in two different ways, dear Betty.
Firstly, the pain he hid and so nobly went on to make others laugh. The mask, the charade and the selflessness behind it. Such people are a rare gift to the world. We can draw from his strength and fortitude.
The other meaning I could draw from the poem was the magician being God and the children his people, watching Him perform magic that they watch with bewilderment and wide-eyed wonder. Unaware of the consequences of so much. He weeps time and again, for us.
The last line delivered such an impact. This is a very beautiful poem, dear Betty. I loved it absolutely!

You're most welcome, dear Betty. It was such a joy to read the poem.
I have always loved magic and feel that it one thing that makes us all children. To see the impossible occur in front of our eyes fuels curiosity and a desire to believe in fantasy. Very nice Betty
I've always been fascinated by the slight of hand. Have you ever seen the movie, "The Illusionist", with Edward Norton and Jessica Biel? You will be amazed. Thank you for the diverse talent you so effortlessly orchestrate. You can do magic, Betty!

My love of poetry results from my love of art. As a painter I am able to express myself on a canvas. As a poet my words come from my heart, my moods, sometimes sad, mostly upbeat. I like to use vivid .. more..
