ARRIVEDA Poem by Betty Hermeleetime is moving!I cease to anticipate my hotel stay indeed i dread it my anxiety heightens amid the episode of stomach butterflies and I feel a bit queasy straight off I come closer to a visit with my darling soldier
The cab driver deposits me in front of a four-story gray building he fetches my baggage and other accessories up the steps to the front door my hands quiver as I give him a tip for his pleasantries
Droplets of sweat on my forehead are sure to fall swiftly past my eyelashes to touch down on the step I ring the doorbell and retrieve my hanky to pat my face dry I query whether someone takes note of my very slightly swollen belly I attempt to conceal it with my baggy coat
A tall young woman with jet black hair opens the front entrance she smiles and welcomes me I return the grin, all the while quavering inside she takes my coat and hangs it in the hall closet I assume she observes my appearance halting at my small pouch then down to my swollen legs she asks if I would like some tea I reply absolutely she smiles and disappears I sense an awkwardness suffering through these niceties when truthfully, I wish for a bed to rest my fatigued body
