NIGHT MUSICA Poem by Betty Hermeleehaunting cries in the night, befriended photo by Alpha CodersIcy breaths spew steam on the snowy mountaintops wind whips among the crooked trees wolves scream in the black of night echoes between flat crevice rocks sheer drop to the earth
I listen to these voices every night, my window cracked open I am surprised at different tones coming from up high and wonder what this chatter means I fear the wolves are not hearty and are unable to weather the frigid like me when I am in the cold trying to find them these misty songs are my only friends, my night music
My older sister deserts me every eve after she tucks me in bed at that time, I crack the window and lend an ear to the eerie cry of love almost like my spooky cries of loneliness we are friendless night creatures who have never seen each other
