TORMENTED

You, the sage of well-known artists

master of portraits

captain of still life’s

champion of landscapes

maestro of movement

who reaps the bulk of your canvas

strokes of thick paint

pop out into your realities

you brought us plenitudes of art

you will not be forgotten

why were you so tormented?

Sadly it appears that many exceptionally creative people can be tormented. It’s a puzzle. Van Gogh was one of them. He left us a wonderful legacy with his paintings. However, in the field of music, there are others too. Beautiful work Betty. It’s sad to think that many of them suffered for their art. Have s great Thursday.

That’s a question that perhaps will never be answered and keep us wondering always…Great minds often have great sorrows. Perhaps, that’s just what creates such beauty in their art. This poem is so richly worded and an unforgettable tribute ending with a question that gets the reader thinking. I loved it.

dearest Betty… I love the softness of Van Gogh… each brush of an Angel’s wing makes my Heart 💜 🎶…. Sing. An Artist can be a Musician or a Painter.. or perhaps a Poet. Many Artists find Peace by the Sea where flowers wander in the breeze. Gorgeous Art for your Poem. softly, Pat

I don't know, Betty....
I have pondered this much. Do artists have to be tormented to write or paint their best works.
Does tragic state of mind bring about the best creativity?
Do those who live happy, normal lives have not a wisp of creativity in their bones?
I wonder why the two need to walk hand in hand so often.

Me too , Betty , his paintings are amazing , have a great Thursday
It seems all the great ones have at least some contact with a sanitorium.
my trip will be because of my terrible spelling and punctuation! (10 mistakes in this effort alone!!!)
What a fabulous display of color

Some say its the human condition to suffer... at least the art is left to fascinate us!

About
My love of poetry results from my love of art. As a painter I am able to express myself on a canvas. As a poet my words come from my heart, my moods, sometimes sad, mostly upbeat. I like to use vivid .. more..
