'Vincent'
I've really enjoyed reading this as I too enjoy the lyrics of Don McCleans song. Thanks for putting this piece together Betty. On a separate note, I received the starry night lego as a gift recently. Very cute. I am overjoyed.

Perhaps he was tormented because he knew he wouldn't live to know the appreciation we now have for his art. I just watched a movie awhile ago that had Willem Dafoe playing Van Gogh. Did you see that?

there are undoubtedly colours without names contained therein .. but he brought them to life and gave them us .. and now never forgot regardless of their anonymity .. Beautiful Betty & truly .. 🌻
They say all artists are tortured souls and it's true. Guess that's our part to play. All I know is reality is stranger han fiction and that art imitates life. So to see the expression in words is a painting of the truth. Great work.
Oh this is wonderful. My favorite artist! and yes he was so tormented by his is illness but my gosh her commanded color movement like no other. Love this!!!!

I meant his command of color, geeze, how did that happen? LOL and you are very welcome.
A fine beautiful write in the life of a wonderful artist, though he was tormented he used his darkness to bring out the beauty in his work. Its a shame he could not be alive to see what he brought to the world ;-}

Your finely laid words can only refer to the artist of that the radiance of the shown painting. A tragic man who gradually lost his mind yet - leaves every wondrous shade. You write with great sensitivity, dear friend
I love his colors and his strokes! Thank you Em for a fine review! Enjoy your weekend

Ah that is the question. Why was he tormented? Perhaps that is not the right word. He was completely his art. That I feel is more it. He did suffer from an extraordinary amount of mental conditions including hallucinations, Bi polar disorder, border line personality disorder,and strangely lead poisoning from his paint. Self harm and so it goes on. Perhaps treatment would lose him his creativity. Excellent piece Betty. Do you remember Don Mcleans song?

My love of poetry results from my love of art. As a painter I am able to express myself on a canvas. As a poet my words come from my heart, my moods, sometimes sad, mostly upbeat. I like to use vivid .. more..
