SUSPENSION

SUSPENSION

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

to reason or not

"

SUSPENSION

My innards suspend on a clothespin

lilting in the draft

seizing every chance to sizzle my nerves

toss my being into turmoil

puzzle my psyche

While reason and soundness

drape from the point of a star

too far to touch, out of reach

what does reason expect of me?

when will I be tempted to color

my moods?

Perhaps if I gaze at this star

as it glitters in the darkness

alas, she shall raise up

my broken spirit, dissolve it

so intensely needful

settle with reason

fabricate me into an undamaged entity

When I hold such feelings and surfing here and there with heavy heart... I found your works as shore to rest for a while...

Thanks for your work ma'am. Beautifully penned.

and I often feel my emotions hang on the line by a clothespin...for all to see.

what a telling last line...later in our lives, we have experienced too much loss and heartbreak that we would have to be
fabricated into an undamaged entity....yet it wouldn't be real...our lives have already been colored blue.
