MYSTERIOUS EYES

I gaze into those dreary green eyes

like the color of the raging sea

within the bounds of sun’s brilliant rays

those stares with streaming droplets

as though life itself overflows

down a steep mountain

singes a black cavity in my core

Pain is sinister to fragile bones

and crucifies those sorrowful eyes

what has transpired me to mold you in dark?

is it my presence? I wish to be of comfort

yearn to taste your lips

my essence is humbled

Perhaps my muse will break the silence

of your woeful mood

Possibly impart you with spring bouquets

to gently awaken your senses

songbirds to chirp melodies of spring

to hearten your quintessence

perhaps then you shall reveal within

Thank you dear Pat, for your inspirational review!
Best to you,
B.
The eyes mirror the soul they say. They can certainly give a clue to how some people might be feeling but they can also conceal much hurt that can’t find its way to the surface. Eyes attract. There is no question about that. It was my husband’s hazel and dark lashes which were a magnet for me. My youngest grandson’s brown eyes make me melt. A glance at any one of my dearest and I can tell their mood. Lovely poem Betty. Most enjoyed.

no other characteristic of the body has as much impact as the eyes
Since the necessity of wearing masks has taken place, eyes have become even more of an attraction
My wife's large, brown eyes is what initially snagged me, and our dog, also with large brown eyes, uses them to very effectively communicate with.

Trying ever so gently at boundaries... Boundaries built as a defensive reaction to something that had the exact opposite effect of this poem. Warmer?
Eyes are the window to the soul, they say it so casually, never suspecting that some are windows to absolute blackness, and some are like that cheap motel room window, with a view on the sea....if it only weren't for that brick fence obstructing the view.

Having seen a number of different eyes... Some speak of vulnerability, others radiate some sort of 'charisma' again others show a cold, grayed out unfeeling...something.... and some show horrible wounds and injury.
To shut these away from the outside is normal, people don't like to be vulnerable, with all kinds of predators just waiting to see those signs. A wall doesn't always hide hurt, though, often it hides monsters...so unrevealing eyes always raise a 'caution' flag.

Monsters..well, perhaps that isn't quiet the right word, but to the one suffering them day after day, I suspect it is.

Wonderful write.

My pleasure, Betty..:)
My eyes have always been mysterious to those who meet me, since they're different colors. I can't tell you how many times people have called me out about them, when in conversation with me. Lol, too funny! I love how you infused nature into focus here, Betty... the sun's brilliant rays, spring bouquets and the melodies of spring, and songbirds that chirp to awaken our senses. I almost feel like going bare footed now! Thanks, Betty!

My pleasure, Betty.
I have a fascination with eyes how does such a tiny thing project so much information? I wonder if it's like looking at a painting do we just project what we feel into those eyes like we do a Picasso or when we interpret a poem? At any rate, your poem certainly awakened my senses:)

Beautiful words of insight, I especially like the beginning of the poem. It seems to speak to me ;-] I gaze into those dreary green eyes like the color of the raging sea. Within the bounds of sun's brilliant rays
those stares with streaming droplets, as though life itself overflows downs a steep mountain
Sings a black cavity in my core. Love your words ;-]

What I like most about this piece is the passion with which you articulate the wisdom you impart. In the end, it seems that everything comes down to hope, the essence of faith. In any case, I am strengthened by your truthful and well-stated words.

Your poem was beautiful and haunting at the same time. Eyes can be that way I have found, very haunting and hypnotic. It seems there is a darkness that you are trying to lift to allow these eyes to see the beauty that is around them every day. Loved this Betty
