INDELIBLE EMBRACES

INDELIBLE EMBRACES

A Poem by Betty Hermelee

INDELIBLE EMBRACES

Beyond words

euphoric crimson red

brilliant stars flash at me

luminaries of love and reflection

my remarkable offspring

an alluring revelry-inspired tarry

replete with compelling dialogue

snuggles and bear hugs

all propel me over the moon with bliss

mindful of its magnitude

seasoned to impeccability

Playful souls

who treasure notable moments

scents of candles absorb to indulge

in each one’s chosen

frenzy of trinkets, baubles, curios

hot latte steams over our pink noses

Memorable hours seem to speed ahead

one by one my offspring peel away from me

with indelible embraces

until the ragged and lonely core remains

alas, time halts

only nostalgia sticks to my bones

Betty,

You have set to pen of page a most touching and poignant piece of Poetry that speaks to any and all who have raised families of their own, even of not their own but loved them all the same, still ... Very moving, I must say ...

Happy New Year!

dearest Betty... my daughter and husband visited us on Christmas Day
from out of town. We gave our granddaughter and grandson Christmas Cards with Money enclosed.
I wrote a special Poem for each of them in their Cards.. After my daughter and family left later in the day, I called her to say I forgot to give her and hubby their Christmas Card. She then said... "do not forget to write a Poem for us" inside the Card when you Mail it to our Home a hundred miles away. Lovely to know they are still innocent Children at Heart. Wishing you the Best New Year that you can Create with Poetry. gently, Pat

Everyone loves a sweet poem 💕
only nostalgia sticks- so much truth in this. Then the question is whether or not we can trust the accuracy of what we think we remember.

Was my pleasure dear Betty and you are welcome.
Moments to cherish indeed. Time moves so quickly; it is nice to slow down every once in a while and spend time with those we love. The trip to New York sounds like so much fun and your poem paint the most wonderful picture of the experience.
