MATTERS BENEATH

MATTERS BENEATH

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

I'm watching you, but say nothing

"

Matters Beneath

From his high untidy nest
in a leafy Dogwood tree
Robin takes note
of matters beneath

Shrewd of reason
dark purple exposes
truth and lies below
he muses in violets
mankind challenges his melody
I shan't fault
yet I pay heed to all

To me, this one means a sure sign of spring
We once had a family raised in a thick vine which leaned against our livingroom window and were able to watch the whole process
we've tried to keep in touch with each other but its difficult because they never stay in one place for very long

I really love this. Even if it is an American robin. I presume the one in the photograph?. I love the structure and the subject equally and find myself nodding in agreement with the thoughts given. Excellent Robin. And much more than just a nature poem.

What a lovely review Ken, and you're correct; it's much more than a nature poem!

Living without attaching a story to everything. The robin is observant and wise. I enjoyed this story.

no faulting, just understanding...if only there were more robins and less judgmental people,
the nest would be much more tidy and livable.

most welcome, dear :S😋🤗
Robin appears very satisfied with himself and life in general from the height of his dogwood aerie. I advise him to stay there. Man isn't always kind.

The colors of a bird's song. Good poetic idea. As of today I guess all the birdies Twitter to Elon Musk's song. Now they'll be singing whatever they want as they observe our failings. Let's hope we don't fail the birds!

I do love your imagery! Taking notes from below, he must be looking out for harm! Birds are beautiful creatures that sing beautiful peaceful tunes.
