MATTERS BENEATH

MATTERS BENEATH

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

I'm watching you, but say nothing

"

Matters Beneath

From his high untidy nest
in a leafy Dogwood tree
Robin takes note
of matters beneath

Shrewd of reason
dark purple exposes
truth and lies below
he muses in violets
mankind challenges his melody
I shan't fault
yet I pay heed to all

A joyous poem, celebrating spring and its glories. I love all the seasons, but spring seems to be especially full of cheer and optimism, I always feel. A nicely penned piece!

Truly picturesque. We dwell inside ourselves so much, it's in the pastoral and in the views of nature one can begin to stop thinking and just take a breath. Which this made me do. Great Poem! Now I'm wondering what the purple martins think of me before they move off from the birdhouse I have setup in the back. Probably not much. Thanks for the imagery. CD

dearest Betty… we have had more Robins this Spring than ever before… they must be Harbingers of divine blessings. They are known to only feed on the ground and need feeders on the ground. This year in 2022… they are flying up on branches of trees and appearing on decks where seed is scattered on Railings. Robins are seen beside Mourning Doves and Chickadees for Conversations and Tweets of Compassion. Our Winged friends have feathered their Nests with Serendipity. Fondly, Pat

Lovely imagery of spring here Betty. We have our own Robin residing in the ivy growing on our garden fence. I love watching his antics. Our avian friends can bring us much joy. Thank you for sharing.

Really like your posted image as well as your words.

A parade of coincidences! Though we live in N.J. our oldest daughter lives in Holly Springs, N.C. where we also have a condo. Our pink dogwood is reaching full bloom and just the other day I was greeted by a robins' song coming from it.
Take care - Dave
