WAR CLOUDS

WAR CLOUDS

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

fighting in a different way

"

 WAR CLOUDS

Clouds electrify

I blink with clear blue tears

As they traverse east with haste

Over a dark, restless ocean

Threadbare with fear

Of what is to become

As clouds impend over foreign soil

They fabricate into smokey hazes

Transform into coal ash

Laden with paramount bravery and anger

they eyeball fire and soot

Surge from the scorched earth

Shadows stunned by chaos

Strewn bodies in dark gray pits

Rain clears the mystery of dried blood corpses

Tempestuous clouds implore the rain spirit

To cast stinging poison pellets of ice

As a means to blind the nemesis

Once their toil is complete

Vigorous winds shift to the west

Jolts them across a mud green sea

Wherein they settle into puffed up masses

Of calm

And ease over a peaceful universe

This is very good Betty. Your vivid descriptions of the clouds and their movement give a great sense of foreboding and lead our thoughts to current turmoil. You end on a hopeful note of calm.
All the best,
Alan

I'm glad I live up north. Those easterlys and westerlys (or ies?) can't get me. I really like the third stanza! Shadows stunned by chaos. Ukraine was a shadow of Russia and now they're stunned. I really hope they come out in the light after this and Russia is nothing but a shadow in the truth of their independence.

A power- packed write of
wars and more darkness yet to
come ..cuts to the quick to
even think what will come
to all existence as the wheel
of evil wars keeps turning ..well penned

Most welcome
I sense a very deep "between the lines" meaning to this entire write which perhaps bespeaks what is to become of this world and its inhabitants. Great writing my friend. ~Sharon

Powerful imagery in this writing. You've written a storm in a collection of right chosen words:
"they eyeball fire and soot," you educated me with the word soot, thank you for that.
"Jolts them across a mud green sea." fave parts. tyfs

Such images and emotions are seen and felt. If we could only click our fingers and make the carnage stop.

All I could think of when reading this tragically beautiful poem was, it was ever thus.
