TEXTURES OF SPRING

TEXTURES OF SPRING

A Poem by Betty Hermelee

springtime awakening

Textures of Spring

Radiant yellow hues
dark green stalks
trumpet a new awakening
of painted colors and textures
my canvas is soaked
a kaleidoscope of my mood
Daffodils burst
on my masterpiece of springtime
songbirds tell me this

Thank you so much for reviewing!!!
Interesting poem. I read it with pleasure and interest. The words are rather easy to read, but that doesn't mean the poem is bad! On the contrary, I like it very much. The picture fits the punch line. Have a nice day!

Thanks for your review; yes my poems are easy to read but with much imagery.
What a welcome splash of yellow delight Betty. I just love daffodils and how they can lift the spirits after the dark, cold days of winter. Spring is my favourite season and your poem and posted image reminded me that there are things to be thankful for when we are living through tragic and uncertain times. Thank you for some joy Betty. All good wishes.

If I had written this, I probably would’ve called it something far more bland, like ‘Colors Of Spring’. But I’m so glad you wrote it and called it ‘Textures Of Spring’. This adds so much more to it, maybe it’s because their really is so much new texture. New growth, new air, new energy and new start. You incorporated that excellently here. It’s so light and airy and joyful, spring in a real way, not a corporate way where it’s filled with rabbits and eggs instead of visuals like this, that really capture the season and Easter. I’ve seen people write spring so boring, when the holidays in it are so beautiful and so much more than they make it seem. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful, colorful piece.

I always do B. Hugs :)
If I hadn't seen your name, I would still know this was done by a painter. The imagery is extremely vivid, conjuring up a brilliant picture of spring. This one is what I needed to read in the dead of winter.

Songbirds sing in your kaleidoscope of color.
Spinning words spill in written wonder.
Seasons swirl on your palette of mood
And flowers grow when you are understood.
I like your poem Betty, and that's for sure!

My love of poetry results from my love of art. As a painter I am able to express myself on a canvas. As a poet my words come from my heart, my moods, sometimes sad, mostly upbeat. I like to use vivid .. more..
