WINTER MUSINGS

WINTER MUSINGS

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

winter's bare

"

WINTER MUSINGS

Winter Settings

Treeless limbs circle the lake

Far from plush and brilliant as spring

Yet flawless reflections in clear waters

Abstractions of shapes upon my canvas

Branches thrust out

Sorrowful and distant

I savor the setting

Winter Moments

Light measures in momenta

Cold, gray morning fog

Whilst sun ascends

Into clear cold afternoons

Winter Light

Light is abridged

Fatigues in late afternoon

As I do

I squint to better view my crazed painting

Unbeknown as to its end

Soon, dark hovers

Though night skies illuminate

Stars topple

Winter Meditations

Some are despondent

In dusky frigid air

Colorless and ghostly dismal

Yet I reflect on a particular calm, lull

Shadows play on my unfinished painting

Meditations mesmerize

A beautiful poem for Winter. We are getting a kiss of Winter now. Upper Michigan got 10 inches of snow.
"Winter Light
Light is abridged
Fatigues in late afternoon
As I do"
I loved the above lines. I decided to live in Michigan after I left the Military. The heat of Texas and the heat of Georgia. Too much for me. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome dear Betty.
Very nicely done. These all felt calm and pretty with a bit of melancholy, which resonated with many of my feelings for winter after growing up in Alaska.

Beautiful imagery, words well chosen. Almost you make me want to forgive the winter for spoiling my time in nature with unlivable cold.

dear Betty... the importance of Winter Snow is that it sinks slowly into the Earth to nourish the Spring's Rebirth. I suppose they still teach the Children about Nature... as we were taught in Grade School. It gives us all... young and old an understanding of our Beautiful Earth. truly, Pat

You captured winter entirely and perfectly in this- from that early morning golden chill, to the freezing black night. Winter can bring a plethora of so many different feelings and you delivered that amazingly here. Every word feels drenched in snow. Sometimes, it can be easy to forget how beautiful winter can be, but you easily reminded everyone of that. Thank you so much for sharing!

Betty😊
No doubt winter brings some cozy feelings to adore. Those chilly yet pleasant night hues over a cup of coffee, drenched in snow yet admiring the company of our loved ones holding hands tightly. I am sure if one's gonna read this in summer, it would give a charming winter flashes.😊
Totally loved it Betty.
Much love,
Anu

You too!💕
I like how you broke this into segments with each addressing a different aspect of winter. I would have relished a frozen Christmas with snow and icicles hanging from my guttering. But the weather turned strangely warm at the last minute and the cold fled away. The wind has been blowing ever since. The trees may be bare but the people are out walking in tee shirts and shorts at 3333 ft. above sea level. It's just not normal. Ah, well, normal is highly overrated I hear. I enjoyed the read.
