PURPLE SUNSET

PURPLE SUNSET

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

Love song

"

My flaws darling

Now I perceive

You are every part of me

I ought to have held you tight

Kissed your smooth lips

Ought to have whispered tenderly

Little things we cherished

Yet I shunned

My guilt love, not with intent

My plan to veil you

Like a goddess in a purple sunset

But I let you down

Shattered the time

If you sense only second best

My sorrows to you

I urge, does our love still matter?

Likely I can hope

And ponder those lonely times

Without you

I overlooked much in our bond

Yet, you were always on my mind

wow, this is powerful and emotional,
Elvis was one wonderful performer,
he put heart and soul to all of his songs,
one that touched me the most was in the ghetto.
brought tears to me....

Thank you reviewing my poem. C.H.J and for visiting.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

dearest Betty... so many times we need reassurance that we have given
enough to the one we love and care for deeply.. One day at a time is another song. Elvis could put so much emotion into a Song. He had to be away from his wife and daughter for too long at a time. He left us a Legacy to light our Way. truly, Pat

very nicely done
reminds me of the time many of the scatterbrain teenage girls that used to be a part of our overall hangout group, met Elvis in a giggle filled encounter, at a show he once did up here

Purple is one of my favorite colors so perfect choice! I love this poem and how sweet it is, a perfectly sweet ode to romance in general. And then it takes a bit of a bittersweet turn, making it an even more gripping poem. This is an inspiring and gorgeous and an amazing homage to the song!

I love the song "Always on my mind" by Willy Nelson. It is easy to play on guitar and the lyrics are haunting in beauty. It truly is a masterpiece of melodic poetry. Your poem pays a lovely homage to a classic song, B.
