Not sure what a banana float is, but the poem seems to say don't resist the current. If you do, it will overwhelm you and you will be carried along anyway. Let the water cleanse you negatives. Not sure about the sweet wine, though; I prefer the dry stuff now. Had a few sweet wine hangovers in my youth, experiences I came to refer to as the wrath of grapes.

But as I passed out in the water I remembered a peacefulness coming over me and pulling me to sleep. A few minutes later I would find myself waking up and coughing out lots of water. I know what it was like fighting the currents and losing. But I also know it wasn't truly a fight but an awakening to something or someplace else. That residual memory of just peace in a silence of darkness. I have a greater respect and appreciation for water now. It is malleable in so many mysterious ways. I know it changed me. Even to this day I'm still drawn to it whether a sea, river, lake, or stream. You are absolutely correct it is calming and peaceful.
