I’m sorry I read this and forgot to comment after getting distracted so allow me now, better late than never. This is charming and clever and I enjoyed it. We had no leftovers this year and it was just three of us, wow what does that say about us LOL it was a small bird ;)

Thanks, no more turkey please! Lovely review
Best, B
Only a few tidbits of turkey are left. All the rest, I got hungry and et. As you so well remind, another such meal is just around the corner. At least I have enough banana nut squash puree left to make another pie. Highly entertaining, my friend.

Laughing coz we don 't have Thanksgiving in the UK so, the obligatory turkey can go gobble for a few more days!
Your metre here and use of words is both clever and funny.. brows raised and lips on the move with this post, Betty.. thank you so much.
' Alas, the leftovers - Behooves the holdovers - For next year’s supper - If we freeze them in Tupper' Love it. :)
If you'd like a vegan or vegetarian recipe for the Holidays.. let me know!! Not a turkey or anything moving in sight!!!

Smilng and waving. Keep safe, smiling and more. :)
The celebration and excitation of solstice-xmas-hear-comes-the-new-light holidays, is a grand tradition here on this continent. It's like Tantra rituals, a time to discard our dietary restraints to overload the senses.

dearest Betty... since my hubby and myself are older,
our Children with their children had other plans for
Thanksgiving... besides we need an entire new Stove with Oven installed
when Spring arrives. Our Son Robert and his wife and daughters stopped by
for Tea after having their own Thanksgiving dinner. Therefor, we did not stuff ourselves this Year;
however, we did have delicious Pumpkin Pie, and a walk in the Sun on a Balmy warm day in
Virginia by the Rappahannock River.... USA. Your Poem is delightfully written with memories
of years gone by. Enjoy the Christmas Spirit and Giving. tenderly, Pat

Thanksgiving done and dusted. Bellies still stuffed full, frantic shopping to be done for bargains and soon it will be Christmas. Oh, sheer delight, another turkey dinner.
It all comes along at once. Christmas and another turkey dinner just five minutes away :)
It all sounds so exhausting Betty. Take a deep breath, relax and enjoy. A fun poem.

Thank you dear Chris for a fun review, no more turkey! Best to you

I agree they should consider separating these two fattening holidays by several months. One can barely remove one pound after a couple of weeks after Thanksgiving before another huge dinner in Christmas hits. That is just wrong and asking too much from my older body to handle. Thank you B for this enjoyable little poem of yours.

My love of poetry results from my love of art. As a painter I am able to express myself on a canvas. As a poet my words come from my heart, my moods, sometimes sad, mostly upbeat. I like to use vivid .. more..
