BRAIN BLIGHTA Poem by Betty HermeleeStruggles of an inmateBRAIN BLIGHT
Boom bang might It’s a busy brainy blight Lights torture my eyes As if it’s time to rise Steel bars rattle In truth there’s always a battle Punch smack kick What an utterly nasty trick Steamy, hellish, acrid air No mirror to view my sticky hair
Vulgar funky brown meat I’ll dilly- dally next time I eat My pants slip below my waist I’m convinced the trigger is in the taste I detect the semblance of gangs At least they hide their gold-tinged fangs Outside in the rec place Where I join the rat race Where we’re expected to savor fresh air I hide like a lion in its own lair Afraid to join, I’m an outcast I watch the show, utterly aghast © 2021 Betty HermeleeReviews
