THE TEMPESTA Poem by Betty Hermeleefurious storm in the cosmic worldTHE TEMPEST Millions of stars quiver Moon and planets wiggle Words buzz crack of doom nears Monster storm, concealed forthwith Clouds alarm the cosmic world As they magnify into swirling monsters Gray turns to black Total darkness
Pellets of rain startle the cosmos Stars weep in fright, assemble Into tight circles, hold each To sudden tear Strive to endure Colors drip, fade into clear Wind whips them into shapeless molds Alas, all fall to earth, damaged beyond Moon’s face distraught, planets lose their sight All is a blur as the tempest shows it might
