HEAT WAVE

HEAT WAVE

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

How it feels

"
Scorching sun-dried stones
kiss the shallow seaweed stems
swim slowly southward
in deep clear cold sea
RELIEF!

AIr thick with melting moments
sweat pours from fiery pores

Boats bob by black bouys
others draw dimples
in calm waters
scents of sun smoothie
lathered in lush lotion
on sensitive seared skin

Dusk spreads soothing songs
cool calm caresses
roll in like gentle giants

Back to Seattle today, review later😊
There is something releasing and almost sensual when night rolls in this cooler temperatures after a day of the scorching sun beating down upon the body.

Love the imagery of the boats bobbing on the water.

Safe journey and I truly enjoyed that imagery in your words
A very nicely written poem, Betty, kudos on your work. This really speaks to the moments right now. A few states experiencing a record high heatwave currently. Streets fried to the point where they are literally breaking like taco shells. Thank you for sharing your poem.

After a scorcher of a day along comes the welcome cool of dusk. Slap on the sunscreen to protect our delicate skin. That water's more than a God send. Love this poem Betty. It oozes summer.
