BREVITY POEM: love and aging

EMBERS

Aging folks, sagging cores

sliver of passion endures

two arthritics push life to the limit

travel like snails to reach the flesh

under silken sheets

ecstasy wilts

albeit, innermost embers

still burn

Well described Betty. It is something that creeps up on you with advancing years. I'm getting to that stage too rapidly myself. My mind is still willing but the flesh is flagging behind. As you have so sensitively described you can still show affection in other ways. My son announced recently that the number 1 cause of injury in older men was trying to show they were still young. What was he talking about? Perhaps I'll stick to cuddles.
Hope all is well with you.

My love of poetry results from my love of art. As a painter I am able to express myself on a canvas. As a poet my words come from my heart, my moods, sometimes sad, mostly upbeat. I like to use vivid .. more..
