PASSIONATE PECKS

PASSIONATE PECKS

PASSION PECKS

Mourning Doves

Flutter their furry acoustic wings

Passionate pecks

Eyes flicker, glance for prey

Though calm they appear

Doves soar with the wind, in a blink

Swift creatures journey far

Still, forever render to their nests

Attend their young

Cavort with sweethearts

And purr to a starry slumber

Together, we frolic with trills and rapture

Eyes blink in unison, lashes flutter

Whispers tease our flesh

Calm intensifies to perfume bliss

In a nest of white satin sheets

We fly just in our dreams

And awaken to dawn’s soothing balm

And all this time I thought it was "Morning" Doves. This one is an interesting inter-species comparison between humans and the aforementioned doves. There seems to be some similarities, though the birds' activities are described from morning to night, and the humans' from night to morning. The behaviors match in some respects, such as flicking and blinking eyes and having nests of sorts. The main difference is that we don't glance for prey. Or do we?

What a unique comparison, yet exact in it's measure of how such things go. Subtly teases of word-play really made this piece enjoyable and a smile for sure. Such a delight to read in the morning!

Here we have a flurry of feathery observations that might even make Patricia Wedel jealous! *wink! wink!* Great job of speaking entirely in imagery to get a fulsome poetic story across. Poster child for removing oneself from a poem about nature. You slammed it (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I Read Chapter 3!!! Great!
dear Betty... Mourning Birds are the most gentle of all birds who come to our large feeding Deck. They are also the most trusting. They always appear at least two or three at a time. Yes, they are affectionate to each other. Your words of poetry complement their silver rays of Angel wings. gently, Pat

You are welcome dear Betty.
Be it mourning doves or be it the human species, these lines speak to me Betty of spring, and when spring is in the air, so is love. Your two stanzas of a different kind, beautifully visual remind me how we mimic nature and how wonderful nature can be. Lovely read my friend. Great title by the way.

Thanks for a thoughtful and delightful review, love it.
Stay safe and sound, Betty
we need more doves, we need more humans who act like doves...we need to reverse roles with them.
nothing like some loving kisses, or even those friendly pecks on the cheek.
Let's fly away and do that.

love this...but did notice what Poetic Beauty noticed with "bliss" repeated, maybe in one spot "rapture' might fit nicely.

Thanks for reviewing Jacob, I will change the dupe word bliss to "Rapture" great idea! Best, B
Dawns soothing balm is an amazing feeling. Passionate pecks are all encompassing.

The only advice I have is you used bliss twice in the last stanza. Maybe find and alternate word but that is just my overly analytical brain.
