ZEST

ZEST

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

quiet among chaos; ARTIST: Betty Hermelee

"
ZEST
He sits on a bench
to contemplate the cosmos
pigeons peck close by

Silence is splendid
he refrains from the bustle
while zest passes by

Deep in thought. He appears oblivious to the chaos that surrounds him. He has perfected the art of switching off. We all need to do that at times to survive. Thank you Betty for both your words and for the artwork you have posted. Creative lady, you are.

Just call it, Paul at 25, waiting for lockdown to end, crying tiers, 1,2,3,4.
Great painting, Betty, off to buy a bench now.

It is nice to be entering the age in my life where to sit still, watch, listen, think, is considered time well spent. People watching is one of my favourite pastimes:)
Enjoyed both the artwork and your words.

And I saw him and made it my goal to be the same, hearing amongst the silence what others need screamed to hear. Observe or participate? I'll just sit here awhile and think about it 🤔

A fine review Lorry,
appreciate it so much!
Best, Betty
Wow you are such a true artist, Betty. The painting is fantastic...I would love it hanging up in my living room.
It reminds me of, well, me.

Contemplation, the pigeons nearby pecking...life in the rear view mirror.

What an amazing compliment on my artwork!! Glad you liked the poem too!
Thanks always, B
dear Betty... in your painting, you capture the
essence of a quiet interlude by a Gentleman whose
reverie is a treat and gives him a chance to commune with nature.
Our Central Park gardens are full of gorgeous Pansies of many colors.
The Pansies are very resilient during the Winter if covered with leaves
and/or damp mulch . It is an example to me to sleep well at night with a Coverlet and then enjoy the sunshine or rain during the day. Love the Title "Zest". I think of the Zest of an Orange, or Lemon Zest...
in Cooking and baking. Young people and children with Pets could be the Zest that passes before
his View. Very warm and caring Poetry with your Art. tenderly, Pat

Thanks Pat for that “poetic “ review, fondly, Betty
Very nice artwork, Betty. You are very talented. A somber picture of old age, though. Perhaps accumulated wisdom compensates somewhat for the zest.
