UNEARTHLY GRATITUDE

UNEARTHLY GRATITUDE

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

my thanks for Thanksgiving!!!

"

Goddess of the stars
I leap from one to anew
appreciative of their cool consciousness
they shroud me in cloudless blue

Goddess of the moon
red hot sensations
cloaks me in dazzling trust
appreciative of the gift of lust

Goddess of the planets
I hasten to their nest
aliens embrace me
offerings of their unworldly best
I bestow praise
express gratitude from my unearthly gaze

Even tho I love the celestial motif of your message (well done with dynamic imagery), I also see the cosmic bit as a symbol for how we're surrounded by unseen & not-yet-understood miracles, energy fields which could possibly guide our lives or consciousness in some unknown ways. So much more to be grateful for than the stuff we can touch & see & understand (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

And thanks for the reminder. What with only 2 news stories to choose from this year, I had completely forgotten about thanksgiving (probably took a few Americans by surprise too after all the latest shenannigi... Shinnannygi... Hoo-ha) Let's hope they can just play nice and tidy up some of their mess before years end and give us all something to be grateful for.
I think I would choose your thanks too, as no matter what goes on and takes over our lives, they are the one constant that can steady our own personal ship by simply being there to remind us any time we are inclined to look up, that we are a far smaller piece of thepuzzle than we think, and can mesmerise us into submission just by sheer will of beauty. The best light show in town and its free too!!! Who needs beachfront when all you gotta do is look up.😀

I don't think anyone can look up at the heavens on a cloudless night and not be awed. The poet here captures the contradictions of the night sky, both the coolness of the goddess of the stars and the heat of the goddess of the moon. Liked especially the line "appreciative of the gift of lust." That was always my favorite of the seven deadly.

Thanks John for a lovely review...
p.s. look for chapter 4 of COOL JOE
maybe we could share our Thanksgiving feast with those aliens...reach out to them...
might make up for the awful things we did to the Native Americans who shared with us and then we basically stole their land.
I think I would like to move to a star.
can I get a ride?
