You took me down memory lane with this write Betty. The only time I ever visited Blackpool I had my fortune told. I have to say, the lady, a Romany gypsy scared me to death almost. She didn't just look into the future, but the past too. What she said to me left my knees shaking. I haven't thought about her for years, until reading your lines. You brought it all back. A most intriguing write. Loved it.

Thanks Chris, this was kind of a spoof on psychics! Thanks for your review, best,Betty
We should always beware of unknown things. We should not tamper with forces or seek them out if we have no knowledge on them.
This gives a chilling tale of bewitching and dealing with “the devil” so to speak

What a wonderful way to move into a Monday, Betty! Love this amalgam of ladies who take advantage of the curious, innocent, cynical or puddled day trippers. Personally I always take Listerine, a garland of garlic, then keep very still and say little. Not easy! Your poem reminds me of Brighton and Llanelly, teen.age hostelling and - wondering what to do on a wet day! Still grinning after reading twice!

Thanks so much Emma, I love your reviews! Ps
Take a peek at part 3 of my family saga!
I love word profiles of unusual people & you've penned one here. It sounds very realistic, especially with stinky breath & saliva oozing. That's the kind of detail I crave to see in a word profile. But it's balanced with good aspects, too . . . it's not overwhelmingly spooky & yukky. I've never done one, but I would do a sitting with this gypsy . . . you've made her likeable enuf so that we'd trust her, if not wanting to rub elbows & throw back a few at the pub with her anytime soon! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

I love spooky writing. I feel like diving into some soon!
Oh dear Betty what a spooky character you crafted!! I don't believe in fortune telling, but I love reading about such stuff. A fortune teller crossed my mind while reading this poem. Thank you for sharing. This poem is hauntinly beautiful.

Hi Lale. So happy you enjoyed my spooky tale...got the idea from a movie I saw...best,Betty
Is there a Mary in your life? No! Thomas? Catherine? John?
Oh, you know a John. He will do something to annoy you in the next month and you will have a decision to make about your relationship?
What? Oh, John is a stick insect? I think he is the reincarnation of Napolean. Forty quid please, Kerching 😀
My sister is a big believer though, but then again, she thinks laughing like a mental patient and wearing all her make up at once is a personality 😀
Unlike Mulder, I don't believe 😀
Any poem that starts with the words dragon lady is always gonna be worth a read though.
So I'm guessing you were left unimpressed 😀

complex > Yes they are > We knew a fortune-teller > we lived at a seaside town We often came across her on our walks > A nice old lady walking her dogs
Occasionally we saw her on her wat to work. At first, we didn't recognize her; that was until she wished us good morning, Yes it was her voice
Sorry you didn't know me in my work gear

I think there's money in the old psychic game.
Let's face it, everyone has had something bad happen in life which a bit of prompting usually brings out.
It's like the old lifeline on the hand. Yes madam you're going to live to a ripe old age, but wait, for another fifty pounds I can tell you about a great event in the near distant future. I'm convincing myself this is the job for me now. Right, Betty, cross my palm with your gold credit card and I'll read your fortune.

My love of poetry results from my love of art. As a painter I am able to express myself on a canvas. As a poet my words come from my heart, my moods, sometimes sad, mostly upbeat. I like to use vivid .. more..
