BEWARE!!

BEWARE!!

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

Clinics, AB, protests

"
I am pro choice and absolutely sure
I can escort patients to the door
protestors are boisterous and slick
but I can duel with their stick
the signs are clear
"don't kill or I'll sear"
scare tactics don't sway
as I ignore and saunter away

They yell for hours
don't look or they'll sour
they only simmer
when uniforms are inner
but next clinic time
be sure the protestors will chime
"don't murder your baby", they say
"we'll take and adopt them and be on our way"

Being a Catholic, I am against abortion. People say it's there body, there choice, but I believe that yes it is your body, but a baby is growing inside you, so you don't have a choice anymore! I'm sure people will not agree with me, and that's fine. We all have our opinion! Thanks for sharing!

Some women are faced with difficult choices in life. I don't think any women would go through a termination without giving it a great deal of thought and suffering of the mind and heart, as a result of her actions. I can not judge. If you are pregnant by rape, what would you do? I hate the idea that women faced with this then have to run the gauntlet of viscious protesting by those who don't walk in her shoes. Very topical and thought provoking write Betty.

Hello, Betty! :)
I think mothers should have the legal right to end their children's lives all the way up til they're married off. It would weed out some of society's problems.

Amen! Thank you Mat for that review
Best, B.
Even tho you begin this poem making your position clear, I didn't see this as having any particular point of view, but more just a depiction of what people go thru on either side during that momentous time of walking toward the gallows (I'm being facetious here, since I do not see abortion as "gallows"). Frankly, I admire your reviewers for being fair-minded even when they totally disagree. I had a similar experience on my recent poem about pot -- even those who are against it are willing to embrace my point of view. To me, that's the magic of this group of writers & readers. Betty, I applaud you for taking on a contentious subject. I believe you've offered your perspective in a fair and objective poem. When it comes to reviews, it's not so much if we agree or disagree with the poet, but how he or she crafted the piece. I say well done. Much packed in a few short lines.

I see Fabian's logic and it makes so much sense...but I also feel a woman has that choice to make since it is her body...conscience can escalate during the decision...but it is hers to make.

Nicely rhymed and very topical. Really, though, take care of yourself. As you know, some of those zealots are homicidal.

Thank you John, not an easy topic, though I am involved!
My answer is, I'm not a woman and if I was I would remind people that it's my body, my life, and my choice, and if in the future I regret that decision, then so be it.

I agree! And thanks for your review!
Ever notice that everybody who supports abortion has already been born and all those in favor of ending a life already have a life of their own? That's neither judgmental nor political but simply a curious and obvious observation.
