KNIGHT OF KNIGHTS

KNIGHT OF KNIGHTS

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

love poem

"
My dignified knight, nude of armor
shapely bodice illuminates my eyes
strong muscular hands touch mine
long bony feet curl over my legs
hairy chest warms my bosoms
blue veins protrude from his enduring arms
angular face, bearded chin, gray eyes
plant me in a trance

When apart, I yearn for my knight
I still see his comely shadow
sense his smooth corps against mine
emptiness creeps into my mood
I ache from quarantine
others fail to catch my glimpse
though a wink or two has no purpose
I wait uneasily for my kindred spirit to return

like Three Dog Night sang..."just an old fashioned love song"---
when the man can get rid of his armor and be vulnerable to love and with love, it make for the sweetest melody for both...
men seem bent on being protective of themselves for some reason....but to shed that and accept love...
Go Knight! Win the heart of your lady!

Beautiful! I fully felt the need you feel for your night! Brilliant!

The best part of your poem is how you balance the depiction of a beloved by showing him as not all perfectly awesome traits. My least favorite thing is the use of the word "knight" (which I hate) . . . hate this symbol of fighting & war & violence . . . hate how it reminds me of the way men are supposed to be strong & protective & maybe not so expressive, but stoic . . . so I'm fighting a built-in bias as I try to embrace your words. Sometimes "old-fashioned" makes a love poem quaint, but for me, "knight" is an old-fashioned symbol that needs to be banished from love poems. Sorry for my inability to embrace this the same way you do! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
