BETRAYAL

BETRAYAL

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

humility, deception

"
Few words to reveal
must I clarify my stand?
harm, humility, betrayal
I speak no more
you feel my sore
I beg you cease
for I have earned my peace

The message I get from this offering is BACK OFF! It is a brief, spare poem (my favorite kind), but it seems to contain an intense story. I get the feeling the speaker is addressing someone guilty of a betrayal, possibly an unfaithful lover or spouse, or possibly someone trying to intercede on behalf of the betrayer. Whatever, the damage is done, the wound too deep. Reconciliation is not possible at this time. Nicely done.

Your straightforward poem reminds me of how I feel about confrontation. If I need to call a person out for chronic disrespect or disregard, then it isn't even worth my breath. I expect a true friend to be able to monitor oneself & know when being an a*****e has gone too far. If someone can't master this, so be it. I'm outa there! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

We should all stand our ground in the face of deception. You did it well through your poetry.
