BLACK AND WHITE

BLACK AND WHITE

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

Snow Landscape

"
Black and White
heavy wet snow
sleepy limbs
hover above
the frigid earth
icicles reflect
off the sun's radiant glow
melt as its warmth heightens
teardrops slip
patter on the roof
soft chunks plunge
without a murmur

Yellow light flickers
solo in the colorless landscape
smoke rises into a cold sky
hunter cabin's flame
frosted window
merrymaking clatter
seeps through a crack
men's chanting
celebratory jingles
snug on an arctic day

The contrast between V1 & V2 is unexpected & delightful! I was thinking, while reading V1, thank you for reminding me why I live in California (this cold B&W landscape does not seem pretty to me -- altho you do a great job of conveying the starkness!) I wasn't expecting this to transform into the raucous warmth of a hunters cabin! Great job keeping a reader on his/her toes! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Nice. Even this Florida girl can see the scene you depict. Lovely!
