FATE

FATE

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

ode to a demise

"
My eyelids sink
to the depth of the sea
reflect upon the imminent
demise of my kindred spirit
powerless, bemoan his fate
my corps drowns in fear
like a rotting bird
pause

Swathe him
in rose-scented sheets
soft flannel blankets
eye pads
entombed in cucumber essence
suppress the torment
my eyelids open
he quivers
is his fate sealed?toadwise
