Chapter 1

"Don't think I'm going to go so easy on you this time Ray!"

Blood spread across the floor like a wildfire spreads across a forest- the face that had once been recognisable was now disfigured, blooded and bruised, "you messed with my girl and now you'll see what pain really feels like."

As he slashed at Rays throat, the blood pool grew larger and more rufescent, the pain became unbearable and though he wanted to scream, the words could not escape his mouth.

He felt like trying to run, but upon realising his intentions, he could feel the skin off his lower left leg being relieved of him and as he opened his eyes, he heard the thud of his torn skin beating the door across the hall, atleast 3 meters away from where he lay.

"You feel that? The unbearable pain? Don't worry, you won't feel it much longer."

A hand rose, fingernails shaped like claws and as black as the night sky, but just as it came towards Rays heart, a young female, with lucious blonde hair, was struck by the claws that blazed with fury- hesitation came over the murderous figure and before long he had fled from his murderous work.

As Ray lay there helpless and partially dismembered, he couldnt help but stare at the female that had brought this upon him in the first place and though he knew he'd be fine if it weren't for her, he still felt a tiny ounce of sympathy for her; her heart was still beating, but too slow and too faint to monitor, "I'm sorry, I, I never meant for this to happen to you and even if I die, I hope you manage to pull through."

Ray shed a single, lonely tear and replied in such a gaspy voice, "they won't discover our bodies until morning, we'll die together and by the same hands, I'm not mad at you for bringing this pain upon both of us, but I'm considering my feeling of hatred for you is for the specific reason that you put yourself in harms way, when you could've simply left me to die,"

"but then how do you think I would've felt? Just to stand back, make no move and watch you die because of my mistakes, I understand why you despise me so, but if there was one thing I could do to make things right, it was this... dying with you, so you're not as lonely as you've been your entire life, which is also my fault," the female sighed and then carried on to say, "I didn't know who you were until my boyfriend pointed you out, I was so sure that I knew you and I just had to be sure as to whether you were who I thought you were, do you want to know why I made no hesitation to make a move on you and the reason why you were hesitant?"

She took a long pause, assumingly waiting for a reply, but since she didn't get one, she carried on anyway, "you were told that you were already betroved to a girl named 'Mushisho', which stands for Amelia in Japanese... meaning me," she began crying, "but I ruined your life by rejecting the betroval, your parents split and believed it were there fault that they chose such a stubborn bride for you, your father became murderous and consequently committed suicide for his actions, whilst your mother simply left and you've not had contact with her for years... I'm sorry for not bringing it up before, I guess now's not the best time either, but better now than not at all... I did, I mean I do love you and even in death I'll love you."

Both drew their last breaths and were suddenely surrounded by nothing, just darkness, but they still had eachother.

"Mr Davison-Keis! Wake up and get on with your work!"

Ray awoke to the sound of banging, presumably from Mr Lits wacking his ruler of the desk yet again.

"Two hour detention tonight, don't be late."

Chapter 2

Two hours of detention was tiring Ray out and being with Mr Lits was just making it worse, time was going so slowly.

Since Ray was so tired, his mind was taking control and every so often he would drift away to a place that seemed all too real, "is this real?" he would ask himself over and over again, but it couldn't be real, there was no one around whatsoever, too dark to believe since it was only four in the afternoon in July, "you're not safe," said a voice from in the shadows,

"What?" he asked cautiously,

"it's true, you're not safe, someone you know is going to hurt you, his name is..." the final words became muffled and Ray kept searching for the figure that owned the voice, when suddenly a figure emerged from out of the dark, his face disfigured and his body bathed in blood, "who are you?"

"Is it not obvious? Look in that mirror there," the figure pointed to an open locker, which appeared to be Blade's; as he looked closely into the mirror, he noticed that his face had become the same as the mysterious figure, "what happened to me?! I wasn't like this a moment ago."

"I'm showing you what you will look like after a certain turn of events, the events will consume you, destroy you, vanquish you from existence and this is what you will appear to others as, don't be alarmed by it, it's not happened just yet, but it will."

"You're me, but how are you here?" he asked, the palms of his hand becoming sweaty as he shook with fear of the figures words, "yes I am, I'm only here because I have to warn you- be careful who you trust, not all of your friends are as friendly as they appear, sooner or later one of them will turn on you in an attempt to satisfy his anger and feelings of betrayal."

"You mean I betray one of my closest friends?"

"Unfortunately yes, you won't be aware of it at the time and it won't be until the event that you'll realise who and what I'm talking about, I cannot tell you any more than this and for that I'm sorry, but every action has a consequence, in this instance, yours is the worst kind of consequence."

"I DIE?! Who does it? I have to know!"

The figure disappeared from sight and a light began to flicker and bring life to the dead, dull corridor until it sparked suddenly and brought Ray back to reality where Mr Lits was lecturing him further on how his grades were terrible, "Es, Ds and one F! You're failing all your classes! You never pay attention or do your work correctly, do you not listen to a word any of your teachers tell you, instructions are simple to follow!"

Upon realising that Ray was not paying attention once again, he slammed his ruler on the desk and screamed, "THERE YOU GO AGAIN! NOT LISTENING AGAIN! WHAT DO ANY OF US HAVE TO DO TO MAKE YOU LISTEN?! DO YOU KNOW WHAT GET OUT OF MY SIGHT, I CANT STAND LOOKING AT YOU!"

That was the only sentence Ray completely understood and though he was still a little lost as to what just happened, he still proceeded to leave the room, whilst Mr Lits gave him a stern look.

Still lost in thought, he paced down the long stretch of quiet, undisturbed road and just when he thought he was rid of the figures resounding words in his head, the street lights began to flicker violently.

He stopped dead in his tracks and he could feel a sudden hint of fear sweep over his being and he felt as though he was in the presence of Medusa- his being stone cold and frozen solid, feet glues to the floor as he stared at the last flickering light as it faded, he felt dizzy and just as the light died out, Ray dropped to the ground in a state of unconciousness.

As a small light came into view, Ray could make out the faint smell of blood, decay and rotting flesh and after his eyes adjusted, he saw the stone walls and the blood that painted the walls and could not bring himself to believe that this was where he actually was.

Chapter 3

Ray's eyes slowly open to reveal a snow white hospital cubicle, he brings himself to sit up and as he does, his friend, Blade, looks up and can't believe his eyes, "you're awake?"

"ofcourse I'm awake, why wouldn't I be, I usually sleep, is it that much of a shock?"

"How long do you think you've been asleep for?"

"well judging by the fact that I'm in hospital, I'd say a good 15 hours," Blade shakes his head, "try 5 days, you've been in a coma, the doctors told us you wouldn't wake up for like another 3 months, since you hit your head pretty hard when you crashed to the floor."
"5 days?!" Ray appeared as though he was hyperventilating but it was clear he was simply in shock due to the news, "it's been that long? It honestly doesn't feel like it," Blade sighed and flicked his lucious black hair out of his face, "well it has," he said with a serious tone, a slight tinge of anger crossed over his mouth and netted the words in his emotion, "and let's just say, we've been through hell waiting for you to wake up! You've been mumbling like crazy and you were 'Coma-Walking' the morning after they brought you in, we had to sedate you in order for you to stop."
Ray began to apologize constantly but frankly, Blade was sick of it, "stop saying sorry, it's done now, leave it at that, you're awake and that's all that matters," Amelia, Blades girlfriend, tugged on Blades jacket and whispered, "I think we should leave, before you start something."
"Why would I start something? I'm merely stating the fact that I'm sick of him apologizing for being in hospital; but anyway, they are discharging you tomorrow afternoon and me and Amelia thought we'd give you a lift, we're gonna go to mine first though."
On that note, they left without another word, Ray lay back down and stared at the ceiling for a brief amount of time, "I don't remember anything, so them saying that I hit my head hard means nothing to me..." Ray couldn't understand what was happening to him and it's not as though anyone was explaining things to him in detail.

Another day passed and as Ray was preparing himself for Blade and Amelia to pick him up, he heard voices, presumably from his cubicle bathroom.
"Ray... you're not safe... don't go with them... you'll regret it."
It was unclear who the voice belonged to, when he searched the bathroom, he found nothing; the only figure he could see was his own in the mirror.
He disregarded the voice and continued to prepare himself, just then he noticed a speck of blood on the wall closest to the door, as his eyes began to focus on it, it got bolder and began to form letters, which read "LEAVE NOW!"
Again, Ray disregarded the blood-stained wall and continued with what he was originally doing and at that moment, Blade and Amelia stumbled in, "Ready to go?"

After an hour of driving, Blade brought the car to a halt and demanded that he switch drivers with Amelia and that he and Ray would switch in order for him to get a bit of rest.
After playing seat swaps, everyone was ready to leave and continue the last hour of driving, "all this driving has killed him; he drove a total of three hours to get to and from the hospital and then back again when we first heard about the news about you being comatosed..." when Amelia took a breather, Ray took his chance to interrupt, simply because a few things didn't quite add up, "why did you both come in the first place anyway? I hardly know you and as far as I know, Blade couldn't give two s***s about what happens to me," Amelia sighed, changed gear and then carried on to say, "I'll be honest, I insisted that we should go and see you, just so we knew that you'd got someone caring about you and what you just said about Blade, that's not true one bit! He was just as worried about you as I was since it's unlikely that comatosed patients will ever recover, but the fact that you recovered so quickly was a miracle and to some of the doctors, a medical break through."
"They said that whatever caused you to recover was what was causing your funny turns, you had seizures in your "sleep" and kept mumbling sentences like "Who are you?" and "Tell me!"

Amelia turned into the next street and pulled up on the curb, "Do you remember anything from whilst you were in a coma?"
Ray shook his head frantically and Amelia clearly looked stressed, "if you remember anything would you let us know straight away?"
"Of course I would, but right now I can't remember a thing."

For the rest of the journey, no one spoke a word, but Ray was still trying to remember what had happened to him and more importantly, what it was that woke him up in the first place.

It wasn't long before they reached the bricked building that Blade called home, as a joint effort they immediately woke Blade from his long awaited rest and the reaction was undeniably normal for someone with such a lack of rest, "couldn't you simply of left me?! I feel like crap and I need sleep..." he sighed heavily and emerged from the seat in which he was sat, "Since I've been awoken from such a peaceful sleep, I guess there's no point in my anger growing further on either of you, I'm going to go for a walk just to make sure I'm awake."
Blade stumbled off, yawning as he left, "let's get your bags inside," Amelia said with a smile on her delicate face, her beauty blossoming for the first time Ray could remember; for as long as he's known Blade and Ameila as a couple, he's noticed the spark gone from Amelia's face, almost as if her beauty was shadowed by Blade's presense.

This never surprised him as he knew Blade always had to be the centre of attention; everything had to be about him, never about anyone else.
One time when they were in there second year of high school, one of the popular girls broke her leg by falling down the school stairs, so just so he could be the talk of the school, like she was, he covered his face in black makeup and said that his Dad had started being abusive towards him... which didn't work out as well as he'd planned as teachers phoned Social services, when they found out, well you can guess what happened... he was jailed an Blade disowned by his Mother for his lying nature.
No one in school ever discovered the truth of Blade, why he was the way he was and still is, they never seemed to question it either... can't imagine why.

After Amelia and Ray had managed to drag Ray's bags into the house, they sat down side by side, saying nothing to one another but giving each other the odd occasional glance.
"So we're just going to sit here as if the other person isn't in the room?" asked Amelia quietly
"Well, I wasn't planning on it, but it just seems awkward because what are we meant to talk about?"
Amelia turned to face Ray, staring deep into his eyes; with every passing moment she would edge closer to him and then from out of the blue, she whispered into his ear, "I don't want Blade."
Ray turned to face her, shocked by what he had just heard, "then leave him, there's no point in telling me you don't want him if there's nothing I can do about it."
"Kiss me Ray!"
"What?! No, I can't, I can't do that to my best friend!"
"Please?" She suddenely ended up taking his shirt off, but even though he didn't want to hurt Blade, he did nothing to stop her because he was curious as to what she would do.
She began to kiss him passionately and whilst doing so, she unbuttoned her shirt.
"Put your hands on me Ray, I want to know what it feels like."
Again he didn't object but it still felt wrong and inappropriate given the current situation and before long, she was on top of him, pinning his arms to the bed and kissing him in a sexual way that when Blade finally walked through the door, he was disgusted by what lay before his eyes...

Chapter 4

"What the hell is going on?!" he screamed furiously at them.
"Blade, it's not what you think! I said she shouldn't, but I couldn't stop her!" Ray replied in a panicked tone, "Bullshit! You didn't want to stop her because she's MY girfriend!" he walked over to Amelia and slapped her so hard that she crashed to the floor crying and begging for it not to happen again, "Stop your whining w***e! You promised me you would never do this to me but even so, with him?! I thought my standards were low when I started dating you! Don't bother following me out the door and pleading for me to stay, I don't want to hear a single word that comes out of your mouth! As for you, Ray, watch your back from now on!" and with that he stormed out of the room and left Amelia and Ray to process what had been said.
"Ray, I'm so sorry," Amelia cried, whilst clutching onto Ray's arm.
He shrugged her off, "I need some time to take into account what just happened and I'll speak to you about what happens from here." He too left, leaving Amelia to cry herself to sleep.

For the next few days, Ray saw no sign of Blade and became paranoid that Blade was not lying when he told him to watch his back; he saw Amelia a countless number of times but not once did he speak to her, it was as if she was never there.

Blade returned to school atleast a week after the whole commotion happened, but he had completely changed; his hair was now jet black, his clothes all black, his finger nails pointed and sharpened to give a claw effect, and two of his teeth sharpened to look like vampire fangs- but Amelia was now by his side, wearing long sleeved tops with turtle necks, full length jeans and her face was plastered in make up, which was nothing like Amelia.

Amelia was always a plain girl, she would wear knee-length skirts, tube socks and a blouse; so why is it that now her and Blade are being seen together she has completely changed?

Later that evening, Ray recieved a rather distressing phone call from Amelia:
"Ray, I don't know what to do! I... I need your help please? I don't know who else to turn to.... please?"
"Slow down Amelia, come over and tell me everything."

Amelia appears on Rays doorstep balling her eyes out and as Ray opens the door she flings herself at him, hugging him tightly as if she's seeking refuge in his arms.
"Tell me what's wrong."
"When I rung you, it was the only chance I had, I'd knocked Blade unconcious on the floor because of what he was doing to me," Ray looked puzzled, so Amelia carefully peeled her top away from her skin to reveal claw marks, bruises and bite marks all over her torso, arms and neck.
"I know this looks bad, but it's nothing compared to what he does after."
"What does he do after?" Ray asked, clearly dreading what would come next.
Amelia removed her jeans and Ray wished he hadn't asked, bruises were all over the insides of her legs and because Amelia had no time to even contemplate showering before running away from an unconcious Blade, blood was all down her legs.
Ray stood up and hugged her before she could cry more than she was, "i'll get you a towel," he said, rushing to get one.
Amelia showered for a while, cleaning every bit of that sick perverted boyfriend off her person, she emerged in only the towel, with her hair pinned back in a bun, "thankyou Ray," she hugged him and as she did, the towel dropped to the floor and since she'd phoned Ray in the middle of the night, he was only wearing a nightrobe, "you look cold," he stuttered, she nodded,
"a little bit but I'm okay," she shivered whilst smiling, he wrapped her legs around him and took her to the bed, where he pulled back the covers and lowered her into it, slyly slipping in after removing his night robe.
The comments that followed were bound to lead to something and that's exactly what happened, but instead of hurting her sexually (like Blade did) he was gentle and caring; he made sure she wasn't dry before he did anything and they did it until Amelia finally got tired and for the first time this week , he and Amelia slept peacefully until Blade realised where she was, a number of texts flooded Amelia's phone- "B***h, go die!" - "You're nothing but a w***e!" - "He won't be there for you much longer!" - Amelia couldn't take it any more, she was almost at the point where she would take her own life but only Ray could stop her which he did.
But what did Blade mean by "He won't be there for you much longer!"?
This was definitely scaring them both.

Chapter 5

Ray kept contemplating what Blade meant and if it were Blade's way of saying "I'm going to kill him" then exactly how would he do it? Blade would never have hurt a fly if he'd of thought twice about it, but he never thinks twice until it's over, meaning he'll kill Ray and then despise himself for doing so, unless he really does intend to kill him and is simply planning it first.

For the next few weeks of school, Ray kept avoiding Blade, if he even so much as saw him he would turn and power walk in the opposite direction, even if it meant being late to his classes.
It still bugged him why Amelia was still with him even after all the pain he'd put her through, but once Blade "owned" something, he would never let it go without a fight.
There was one time that Ray could remember Blade being like that, his Mother was dying slowly and painfully and was only being kept alive through a life-support machine, since the doctors knew that nothing would save his Mother from death, they asked to turn the machine's off and let her die in peace, but Blade despised this idea and said that only he can turn them off, he will not do that until his Mother tells him to, but it was clear that his Mother had lost the ability to use speech and so this would never have been so, eventually it went to court and the Judge decreed that the machine's be switched off since there was absolutely no hope for her survival; ofcourse Blade was furious and started a rampage round the court room, he was apprehended in the end and taken to a secure location whereby he would spend a few days on his own, allowing him time to grieve without causing harm to others.
Eventually he came round and took into account that it was the best thing to do for his Mother, yet he still despised the idea of her being euthanised as he had beliefs that life should be preserved and should last as long as it can, still there was nothing he could do about it now, she was gone and that was that.

Once again Blade disappeared for a week or two, presumably to think about how he would go about ending Ray's life and just from rumours, it was clear that Amelia was in hospital having suffered so many injuries, yet she told the doctors it was from boxing in her spare time, which everyone knew was a load of bullshit, still no one bothered to say anything due to Blade's menacing appearance.

Ray couldn't quite put his finger on why Amelia had come onto him like that and it wasn't like they'd done anything other than kiss... so why was it that Blade was taking such a menacing and murderous approach to the situation- it all seemed so confusing but there was nothing that Ray could do about it now, what's done is done, all he could do was watch his back, but how he would do that no one knows.

Chapter 6

A day later, Blade returned to school, still looking quite menacing but he seemed to be paying no attention to Ray whatsoever, from which the question, 'Is Ray going to be safe?', arose.
Unfortunately it was not meant to be, Ray was not safe, though Blade didn't pay attention to him, it seemed like he was following him EVERYWHERE.
Luckily, everywhere Ray went, there were other people so if Blade were to do something, someone would have done something.

It wasn't before long that Ray made a terrible mistake, he stayed after school hours to finish off some work in the library, he was safe in there thanks to the Librarian, but when he left, his murder seemed imminent.
Blade was still following him.

"RAY!" He screamed down the empty corridor, Ray turned his back and Blade was hovering over him like a shadow over his life, "you've crossed me too many times, this IS the last time you ever do that!"
Ray feared for his life and so ran as fast as he could down the corridors taking any possible turns he could, but the turns he took led him straight into the sports hall; a room with no possible escapes but one- the door through which he entered into the room- he knew Blade would not be so dumb as to let him pass back through that door and so all he could do was stand and wait for Blade to turn up.

It wasn't long before the menacing silhouette of Blade emerged through the door, Ray could hardly move after seeing his blade like fingers wrapping round the door frame.
"So, you're finally done running? Realised that there's no escape for you now?"
"I just figured if I'm gonna die, why not just get it over with."
"Smart choice!"

Blade edged closer to Ray, his hands turned out, his blade's sharp and ready to kill; though Ray was ready to die he still feared Blade, there was no telling how he would kill him.

"Don't think I'm going to go so easy on you this time Ray!"

Blood spread across the floor like a wildfire spreads across a forest- the face that had once been recognisable was now disfigured, blooded and bruised, "you messed with my girl and now you'll see what pain really feels like."

"You feel that? The unbearable pain? Don't worry, you won't feel it much longer."

A hand rose, fingernails shaped like claws and as black as the night sky, but just as it came towards Rays heart, Amelia emerged through the entrance and upon seeing the blood and Blade's menacing face about to strike Ray for a final time, "BLADE STOP!" She screamed, her eyes welling up with tears, since she could not stop him from advancing on Ray again, she intercepted him and was struck by the claws that blazed with fury- hesitation came over the murderous figure and before long he had fled from his murderous work.

As Ray lay there helpless and partially dismembered, he couldn't help but stare at the female that had brought this upon him in the first place and though he knew he'd be fine if it weren't for her, he still felt a tiny ounce of sympathy for her; her heart was still beating, but too slow and too faint to monitor, "I'm sorry, I, I never meant for this to happen to you and even if I die, I hope you manage to pull through."

Both drew their last breaths and were suddenly surrounded by nothing, just darkness, but they still had each other.
