![]() A fowl playA Poem by Deepika
A Nightingale once
sneaked into a crow's nest, Laid her fresh egg
& flew away hoping the best!
The crow was back
with a mouthful sprout, Eager to hatch
eggs, of which she had no count; Just in few hours
the chicks were out, She fed them with a
care,that had no discount!
As days rolled by,
they were taught to fly, Then came a day
that had a vocal test, Nightingale soon became a center of envy, With her soothing
voice, she had no contest!
Mother crow turned furious with a grave doubt, Poor Nightingale,
with no pity, was just thrown out! Now she was left
with neither food nor choice, But to sing to the
skies at the top of her voice!
A young princess
was then having a leisurely roam, Enchanted by the
melody, she took the bird home She ordered
merchants to make a golden cage, Food was ordered
and fed at a great privilege
She tried her best
to make the infant sing, Her heart melted seeing the angst wretched one, She set the bird
free to flap its dainty wings, Promising a visit
to woods every now and then!
Crows with no food,
ailed day by day, Songbird got to
know their misery in some way, She then sang at
the top of her tone, Pretty one now came
with a bowl full grain!
Nightingale then
invited all her fellow crow mate, Having starved for
days, now merrily they ate; Mother crow bowed with all disgrace, Little one forgave
them with a humble grace! Crows then pleaded
her to join them home, Songbird refused
saying she's in quest of her mom! © 2015 DeepikaReviews
