ClutterA Poem by Bernard DeLeoHumorous PoemA home descends into darkness with ease, If someone allows dread clutter to seize, Clean spaces, which once were neat as a pin, Succumbing to temptation’s slothful sin. Dining tables become the first to fall, Buried under an avalanche so tall, Folks soon forget where they used to eat, As finding chairs quickly becomes a treat. The Blob of clutter absorbs each bare place, Eating up every lonely defenseless space. Some items never more see the sunlight, With clutter piles bringing eternal night, Blocking one window after another, Dimming light behind paper pile smother. It begins innocently one fine day, With tossed aside junk mail, someone idly lay, Upon empty kitchen table to birth, Infant clutter pile of soon growing girth. Evil clutter mutant then burrows deep, Plaguing even where we lie down to sleep. Doom to the household who lets it begin, Such a battle will be brutal to win. For never was a story of more woe, Than this of clutter and its endless flow. © 2012 Bernard DeLeo |
