Solitary Secret Paths

Solitary Secret Paths

A Poem by Bethsinitaly
"

A spirits view on the sleeping world

"
Time lays watchful - o'er coal black night -
in silence - and peaceful embrace -
the garish siege of countless impatient souls - stilled -
makes way - for soft reposeful remembrances of the departed.
gentle breeze stirs - casting inky shades - flitting -
from shadowed pool to ebon vale - and on - dancing - weightless -
twixt shining silver slashes of moonlight that -
covetous and bold - mar the soft charcoal visage of the land
- they wait - for living souls - would dare not tread -
their solitary secret paths - adorned with dew and the finest sparkling lace -
a secret - spun by a thousand tiny artisans - and laid -
as precious silken offerings o'er bared branches and hollows -
and - weaving as one - rich crisp mats of glistening fallen leaves -
a shimmering mantle upon the soft cool earth -
where the twisting twining feet of a boundless army slumbers - reaching -
ever down and down - resolutely traversing veiled beds -
where those of wakeful eras past - have come -
shedding mortal shrouds and freeing impatient souls -
unto the taciturnity of nights immeasurable embrace
- the long forgotten - insensate custodians of humanity-
In endless watchful repose - at the impenetrable margins of existence.
bearing eternal silent witness -
to the innumerable - unforgivable -
follies of men.
