Skips on the RecordA Poem by Miles WilburnA poem about life
When you sleep at night and you think about your day,
Do you recall the little things? The skips on the record. When you look back to the past, an image, a face that never lasts. Your mind glosses over all the little things, but the important part remains. The guitar of love, and the bass of doom, Those parts remain, but the vocals stutter... Quickly you try to clean the disk, And remember the lovely life you lived... But nothing ever stays the same. The song is there, but not all is retained. Like a mime singing karaoke, or a blind man driving cars; You cannot remember it all. You just need to embrace your life, and live in the moment all the time. © 2012 Miles Wilburn |
