From Roses to Ruin

From Roses to Ruin

A Poem by Miles Wilburn

We wandered on these dusty roads
together you and I
Laying on the greenest grass
With stars piercing the skies

The love we had was like a rose
Powerful in bloom
But our love was sent forever, forever into ruin.

The jealousy that greedily scratched the surface of the skin.
The anger that permeated through the pores that deeply lie within.
The bones that lie in torment of an ever increasing weight
and the organs that simply drown under such great restraint.

Were these all to blame for the greatest of the loss,
Or were we destined to surely, surely fall?
