The Standard

The Standard

A Poem by Miles Wilburn
"

I wrote this after a bad weekend.

"
I walk up
and walk away
dawn to dusk
night to day

full of holes
filled me in
bullet holes that graze the skin

bleeding out
pooled within
I bathe in memories
soaking skin
replaced my ideas
replaced again

I'm feeling bone
stabbing skin
from the wound
identification

opened my heart
find id's
were all the same
in how we beat

Differentiate
meaningless things
the standard model
the standard me

What sets me apart?
what makes me think?
everythings the same
except the timing

I cast a smirk
and admire views
the clone of me
that looks like you

I brake for cross
and cross to you
nailed on wall
fridge side view

I open door
and close behind
sidestepped you all
hid far behind

cant find my soul
just my heart
the same you have
the keys to start

you push the clutch
into the floor
shift the gear
pedal floored

watch the speed
watch it go
scenery passes
I explode.
