Until the Darkness Comes

Until the Darkness Comes

A Poem by Miles Wilburn
"

Thoughts the come as one waits for sleep.

"
I lay in bed trying to think
whilst lying to myself
that everything was alright, and that I didn't care

I haven't hurt this way in a while
Wounds from old return.
Scars seem to reappear, and cuts begin to burn

I recognize my errors.
But its too late to plead my case
I think that is what hurts the most
besides the feelings that I can't shake

Is it possible to begin again?
Is it too late to find love?

I ask myself as sleep overtakes and until the darkness comes
