The Beach

The Beach

A Poem by Miles Wilburn

Love songs are always perfect
Too bad they are just dreams
Trying to hide pain, way past reality

Jaded and afraid, you wander through your days
Wishing something clicked, and that everything would change
But there's nothing higher than expectations
and nothing worse than when I break them.

Locked yourself inside your head
Wishing me away
Misunderstandings break the heart
Resentment flows like a tidal wave

So surf the waves and cross the sea
and find me waiting on the beach
life's too short to feel unease
life was meant for you and me
